Amazing Daughter

Marissa came up last Saturday and has been here with me all week. I wanted to go on record that she is just amazing in taking care of these twins. I makes me tired just to watch all the things she does for them. They are precious ones but sure are a lot of WORK. She is so good to them and always happy and playing with them, singing songs or nursery rhymes, you should see their faces light up when mom is there. Last night I twin sat while she went to dinner with her girl friends from this area. I sat on the floor and played with them, it was so fun, and they were so cute. But, I got my orders, "Mom, don't try to teach them any new tricks, they can learn on their own." Imagine, an old granee teaching young twins tricks. LOL!! Just wanted to toot her horn and say what a mighty fine job she is doing.

Goods "N" News

Quickly I wanted to remind everyone that this is conference weekend. I hope you find time in your busy schedule to listen or watch the proceedings.
I wanted to let you know the the church has a test radio station, it will be called The Mormon Channel and will eventually be on satellite radio etc... You can go there now and listen on the Internet. Go to http://www.radio.lds.org there is a great interview with Elder and Sister Bednar and Sheri Dew as host. The radio station is on 24/7 so take a few minutes to listen and give your feedback.
Also, it is nearing the time when my mission will end (4-15) but I have extended until (10-15) so I will get home before the winter. We have experienced rain and snow for the past two weeks and looks like we will get more for at least another week. The full moon is on the 9th, maybe we will get a change of weather then. In the meantime, the skiers are having a great time with daily renewal of the powder, or however that skier talk goes. Have a great day.

Another snowy day

This morning we awoke to more snow. It had snowed yesterday morning and mostly melted by afternoon, then it started snowing again about 10PM. The snow is beautiful. I don't mind the spring snows as much as the winter snows as they melt like the ones at home pretty quickly and it isn't as cold afterwards. Maybe (heaven forbid) I am getting used to the cold.
I just wanted to share a little experience I had today. This morning when I was coming to work, I was heading across the conference center parking lot and who do I run into. Elder Perry is jogging around the parking lot in his tennis shoes and jogging outfit. He always say something when you meet him. This morning he said "Good Morning". When I first started my mission he was one of the 12 over our department. He was always so great to greet us cheerfully and joke around with us. Then when President Hinckley passed on, he was moved to another department. We sure did miss him. You must know that he is 86 years old and will be 87 in August. He is the oldest member of the 12, and 3rd in line of succession. What was so wonderful about seeing him this morning is to realize, that even tho he is an Apostle of God, he is still just a man. He lives nearby the COB and you can see him often out jogging or walking and he is always friendly. It was just a great man and has a warm place in my heart. He has been so go to help our department even tho he is in charge of another department, he still cares and does whatever he can to help our department. It has been such a blessing to me to be able to be around some of the 12 and the 70. It is great to see there are such good, humble men on the earth and taking care of the Lord's church for Him, it is also wonderful to see how they work together to accomplish the Lord's purposes with no thought for themselves, strong dedicated people. What a blessing to see all of the Senior Missionaries and hear their testimonies, it makes me want to work harder, I am grateful for my small part in the work.

Spring is Here

Today for lunch I walked to a nice sandwich shop a couple of blocks away. (Yes, it is true, I walked "outside", windy as heck but I was out there.) I noticed all of the pansies waving at me and all of the bulb plants sticking up out of the ground. We have had a much milder winter than last year and it seems like less snow. It is so nice to see the flowers, so there is hope.
Yesterday evening I sat with a friend at the hospital for a while. I had grabbed the conference issue as I had set a goal to real all of last conference talks again before April Conference. She was sleeping so I started to read and realized that I had last April's issue. I decided to read it anyway. I was reading President Eyrings talk and in there he was talking about families. He said he missed his grandchildren who lived in far away places and felt the loss of that relationship with them. I too was missing my children and my grandchildren, it was a good feeling to know that an apostle misses his grandchildren too. Soooooo!
Good news, I am off to Phx tomorrow to see my 3 children there and my new grand babies, before they grow too much. Tomorrow they will be 3 months old, and I have missed so much. There is just something about babies!! If you want to see them email Risa and she will add you to her blog. Happy Spring!!!

Quick Trip Weekend

On Friday about 9AM a friend of mine called me and asked if I would help by escorting a young lady to Iowa. I said yes I would be happy to help. They faxed me an itinerary leaving SLC at 2PM arrive in Cincinnati at 8pm. I arranged for someone to cover the phones for the rest of the day and I was off to the airport. I met the young lady and we were off. When we arrived in Cincinnati, the plane to Iowa was cancelled due to a snowstorm, so we had to stay at a hotel by the airport. Early Saturday morning we were off again to Iowa. We arrived at 9am and I delivered my escortee to her family. They left, and I went to get my new tickets as I was waiting at the airport until 2:50P, when the next plane went to Minneapolis/St.Paul was to arrive. I spent a lot of time pacing and reading the Ensign which i borrowed from work. Finally, it was time to board. Upon arriving in St.Paul, I quickly found the next gate. As I was waiting there a the lady behind the ticket desk approached me and asked if I would like to go to 1st Class. WOW!! would I. So off I went and sat in 1st Class. The dinner was great the seats were soft, and it made the whole trip worth it. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! How was that for a crazy trip. The weather here calls for snow, and more snow. According to the weatherman, UT is up to 100% of its snow in the north and 107% in the south. Which is quite unusual. Guess who is looking forward to spring.

Cancel that last Blogg

We awoke this morning to quarter size snow and it fell until about 10 AM. I'm getting ready to leave work and there it goes again. I knew it was too good to be true.
You know it is Monday when: I arrived at work at looked at the water bottle I threw in my purse and said to myself "Why did I put an empty bottle of water in my purse?" Well, you guessed it, I didn't. Sure enough in my purse a whole bottle of water dumped. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ( private joke) I had papers and wallet, camera, check book, pens, pencils more papers etc. all over my desk under my desk and anyplace else I could find to dry them out. If you get a Valentine's card that looks like it has been soggy, well it has... That wasn't bad enough, but some weeks earlier in my usual haste I had put a pen in there without the lid on properly. You guessed it, blue ink all over everything that was wet. YUCK! Thank heaven for Instant hand sanitizer, it cleans up ink quickly and easily over nearly everything. Except my hands, the ink sticks there more easily, also, we have partially blue Valentines cards. OH well!! I dried them out and sent them anyway. But my poor expensive purse was wasted, it now has a nice blue line all over the bottom half, there's no help for the purse and Sanitizer doesn't help... Any Ideas????
Just another day in the doldrums of Sister Hamilton... Marissa stop laughing!!!

Here comes the SUN!

February 02, and already we have had 2 days of SUN. Of course we have the haze again to day, but there is sun, yesterday it got up to around 39 degrees. YEA!!!
I just quickly wanted to share with you a neat experience I had Saturday Morning. I was in PHX, at Helen's house and awoke earlier than she does at 6AM. I couldn't go back to sleep so I decided to read my scriptures. Since it was a new year and I had been spending my reading time with the Doctrine and Covenants and Joseph Smith History, I had neglected my daily reading of the Book of Mormon. I opened the Book of Mormon to a sticker place in Alma 34. As I read several chapters, the sweetest, warmest feeling came over me. I had read the Book of Mormon many times and as I read I could say the words before I read them. What a beautiful testimony the Lord sent me again of the wonders and truth of this amazing book. I have felt so good and blessed ever since. I am so thankful.
The new babies are doing well. Marissa reports that Dallin loves the noise of the 7 boys belonging to Katie and Jared. She says if she puts him to sleep in a quite room he cries and she brings him in the noisy room with all the boys and he goes right to sleep. She also says Clara is quite the opposite. She and Mason have picked up some sort of virus and have both been ill, but they are doing well in Carlsbad. Still looking for a home... She said she was going to post new things on her blog. Call me or email me and I will give your her blog address. Better yet, call her and cheer her up!

January 09

I'll bet you think I have forgotten my blog. I have two reasons for not having time to blog, namely Clara and Dallin. They are so cute and so much fun and WORK. It takes two grandmas and the parents to take care of these twins. But it has been worth it. I have very much enjoyed being a Granee again, my other grandchildren are 25 and 23 and have given me 4 great grandchildren. Tiffany had a son last year making it 3 girls and 1 boy. I haven't been able to see him yet, I hope to do so in the summer.
News: Mason was laid off from his job last Monday, but Chuck called him on Friday and offered him a position in Carlsbad, NM. They prayed about it and felt it was a good move so they are packing like crazy and getting ready to depart next week. Mason will fly down on Monday to check out the place and Risa and I will leave Thurs. to drive down with the babies.
That's what is new with me. Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
